See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Busy roadside inn on crossroads at the centre of the village, named after the slate quarry, situated on the hills above and the reason for the village's existence. Three handpumps dispense a varied selection of local and other ales. Food is served Wednesday to Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtime only. Several separate drinking areas make this a cosy atmospheric pub. The dining room at the rear has pleasant views over the Duddon Estuary to the fells.
